| Constructed
by Maharawal Shri Shalivahan Singh Ji of Jaiselmer in 1899 A.D,
the Jawahar Niwas Palace is built entirely in golden sand stone
by the Gajdhars (master craftsmen). The palace, a symbol of elegance,
grace and regal charm has been renovated into an elite hotel by
the present Maharawal Shri Brijraj Singh Ji, keeping in mind the
old ambience and the royal splendor. It is located at a mere distance
of 1.5 km from the airport, 2.5 kms from the railway station and
half a km from the bus stand. This heritage hotel, which has intricately
carved Jharokhas and Chhatries in typical Jaisalmer offers a breathtaking
view of the fort, the surrounding city.
The
22 elegantly furnished rooms offer a bewitching ethnic appeal
along with contemporary hotel facilities like telephones with
STD/ISD facilities, attached baths with hot and cold running water,
showers, color televisions, satellite connection, free newspaper,
fire places, room service, alarm clock and hairdryers. Styled
in medieval style to recreate the brilliant lifestyle of the opulent
Rajputs, some of the rooms offer a scenic view of the grand Jaiselmer
Fort. Other hotel facilities extended by Jawahar Niwas are travel
desk, barber shop, courier service, front desk, parking, safe
deposit box, conference facilities, luggage storage, doctor on
