The Umed Bhawan Palace in Kota is a regal heritage hotel, which
combines Rajput and Victorian designs in its architecture. With
sprawling gardens, walls and ceilings decorated with traditional
Rajasthani paintings, hunting trophies and regal artifacts, the
Umed Bhawan Palace has a truly royal ambience. Designed by Sir
Swinton Jacob, for Maharaja Umed Singh II, the Umed Bhawan Palace
was built in the Indo Saracenic architectural manner, in 1905.
Made of pink sandstone, white khimach and imported Italian marble,
the Umed Bhawan Palace is a majestic sight in Kota, Rajasthan.
The
Umed Bhawan Palace has an Edwardian Drawing Room, Banquet Hall,
Durbar Hall, Zenana and Clock Tower. It has hosted numerous dignitaries
over the years, including Queen Mary, when she visited Rajasthan
in 1905. The palace was enlarged in 1930, when a new wing was
added. The new wing continues to be used as the residence of the
royal family of Kota, while the rest of the Umed Bhawan Palace
is run as a Heritage hotel by the Welcom group.
The
Umed Bhawan Palace has 25 air-conditioned rooms and suites. All
rooms are equipped with satellite channels, direct dial phone
lines, cable television and bathrooms with modern amenities and
