Situated on the banks of river Banas The Raj Mahal was earlier
known as the Raawatji-Ka-Bagh. Built by Sawai Jai Singh II in
1798 A.D, as an ode to his favorite queen Maharani Chandra Kumar
Ranawatji, the heritage palace was finally converted into a deluxe
hotel in 1980 after the royal family decided to move into another
place. It is located in the small town of Tonk, 170 Km. from Jaipur
on the Jaipur-Kota highway.
The
heritage hotel offers 23 rooms to its guests. These air-conditioned
rooms, which are divides into suites, royal suites and standard
rooms are equipped with all the modern amenities like attached
bath with hot/cold water, telephones, televisions, 24 hours room
service, etc. The on site restaurant provides the finest Indian
cuisine. Guests can opt for eating by the pool side, the lush
green gardens or in the privacy of their rooms. The Raj Mahal
also has an in-house bar, stocked with various wines and spirits,
library, recreational center, sightseeing tours, boating, fishing
and facilities for laundry, doctor on call, travel desk and money
exchange among other things.
