In
the morning you take a city tour of
Udaipur with its beautiful lakes, palaces
and fountains. In the shadows of the
surrounding dark green hills, Udaipur's
three lakes - Pichola, Fateh Sagar and
Udai Sagar stand like shimmering jewels
from which rise fairytale white marble
palaces. Maharaja Udai Singh had once
sought shelter from the Moghuls here
and then endeavoured to fashion a city
in the valley. Visit the City Palace
Museum, intricately designed in granite,
marble and mosaic with white filigreed
balconies and windows, ornate arches
and cupolas atop magnificent octagonal
towers. The tour continues to the Jagdish
Temple, built in 1651, and "Sahelion
ki Bari", a spectacular garden displaying
the unique lifestyle of the royal ladies
who once lived in the palaces. Return
to your hotel and overnight in Udaipur.
