National Parks And Sanctuaries
Rajasthan houses a rich variety of flora and fauna. Home to the tiger, black buck, chinkara, the caracal, the great Indian bustard amongst others, the State has about 13 well-known National Parks and Sanctuaries.

Ranthambhor National Park
A well-known tiger reserve under Project Tiger, the Park is home to sambhar, cheetal, leopards and other animals. Best time to visit: October to April.

Sariska Tiger Reserve
Brought under Project Tiger in 1979, leopards, sambhar, nilgai, wild dogs etc., inhabit this reserve. Best time to visit: November to June.

Mount Abu Sanctuary
Grey jungle fowl, wild boar, languor etc., inhabit this beautiful sanctuary. Best time to visit: March to June.

Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary
This 578 sq. km. sanctuary provides shelter to the sloth bear, leopard, flying squirrel and the Indian wolf amongst others. Best time to visit: March to May and September to November.

Jaisamand Sanctuary
Established in 1957, this sanctuary is home to the sloth bear, cheetal, chinkara and a number of other animals and birds. Best time to visit: November to January.

Bhensrodgarh Sanctuary
Covering an area of scrub and dry deciduous forest, leopards, chinkara, sloth bear and other wild beasts can be spotted here. Best time to visit: October to May.

Darrah Sanctuary
This hilly sanctuary is home to the wolf, sloth bear, chinkara and the leopard. Best time to visit: February and May.

Desert National Sanctuary
Covering about 3162 sq. kms. the wealth of wildlife here includes the desert cat, fox, hare, spiney tail uromastix, imperial sand grouse, bustards, falcons and sand fish. Best time to visit: September to March.

Tal Chhapar Sanctuary
Famous for its black buck, the sanctuary is also home to an amazing variety of birds. Best time to visit: September to March.

Sitamata Sanctuary
Home to the leopard, hyena, jackal, jungle cat, spotted deer, four-horned antelope etc. Best time to visit: October to June.

Phulwari Sanctuary
Situated 82 kms. west of Udaipur, this sanctuary supports a variety of wildlife from the leopard to the chinkara. The sanctuary also has around 120 species of birds. Best time to visit: October to June.

Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary
Home to the tiger, jackal, hyena, nilgai besides other animals. Best time to visit: Winter.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park, Bharatpur
This wonderful park is one of the world’s greatest heronries. Its shallow, fresh water marshlands attract thousands of migratory birds including the Siberian Crane. With over 10,000 nests of egrets, cormorants, storks, other birds and around 30,000 chicks hatching every year, Keoladeo is an ornithologist’s paradise. The park is also home to the mongoose, sambhar, black buck, cheetal and nilgai. Best time to visit: August to February.
